COLLEGE AND CAREER ADVISORY

During the fall of their junior year, our students will participate in a semester-long College Advisory course.

 

During this course, our teachers will educate, empower, and support students through the college application process.

Our goal is to help our students find the right-fit college/post-high school program. Additionally, we help them gather and prepare the appropriate admissions materials in a timely manner. 

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Interest inventory for studies and career

  • Websites to find right-fit schools/programs

  • Planning for college applications and resume - boosting grades, awards, activities, work experience, etc.

  • Making accounts on College Board, Common App, and Apply Texas

  • Accommodations for SAT/ACT and self-advocating for special needs as an adult; ADA

  • What makes a great college essay & essay topics for admissions 2018-2019

  • Etiquette and process for asking teachers/employers/other significant adults for letters of recommendation

  • Scholarship searches and websites, tuition calculator, & FAFSA

  • Visits from admissions counselors, college open house days, college fairs

  • Our students receive one-on-one advising with our admin team to help them pursue their dreams with confidence!
